Run4Water: On a new path

If there is one thing adventure has taught me it is that we may not always end up where we thought we were going, but we will always end up where we were meant to be!

Earlier this year, I had announced my latest endurance challenge and adventure, Run4Water, an attempt to run nonstop across my home state of Ohio.  Maine has become my new home after being transferred here for my journey in the Coast Guard.  I am excited to share that the adventure will now be across Maine this Labor Day weekend!

A number of things have changed for Run4Water but its purpose remains the same. Every step of the run will be one step closer to creating a world where every person has clean water to drink. All funds will now be raised for Lifewater International, a faith-based organization that provides clean water, improved health, and the love of Jesus to the world's hardest-to-reach places.  Lifewater is unique in that their work meets both the physical and spiritual needs for communities around the world.

Lifewater’s mission resonates deeply with me based on my own personal experiences.  In the past, I was sharing a message across the globe about setting world records and overcoming challenges, yet I was feeling stuck and on my own.  I had a thirst that could not be met with success and achievements alone.  Something was missing and that was a relationship with God.   I learned firsthand the importance of meeting physical and spiritual needs in order to lead a fulfilling life.  That’s why I am excited to support a partner who addresses holistic needs of the communities they serve.

From now until Run4Water kicks off on September 5th, my training will focus on weekly long runs with active recovery, weights and some cycling throughout the week. Check out these stats on what it will require to make the attempt as the first person to run nonstop across Maine. Yes, that means no sleeping!  I am excited to share with you tips and insights I discover while training for the new adventure.  You can follow my path by signing up for the newsletter and following me on Facebook and Instagram.

Given our global circumstance, now is the time to help one another. Access to safe water and sanitation are so important to prevent the spread of disease. If you’ve got access to both, consider paying it forward to give someone in need.

See you on the trail,

Katie
